The Very Small Farm
The Very Small Farm is getting a lot bigger (relatively speaking). In 2010 we’ll kick off our second season of CSA shares by expanding the number of shares available, the number of days we work, the number of beds we grow on, and the number of weeks we’ll be harvesting.
In the grand scheme of things we’re still very small; very, very small.
Briefly, we’re only planning on digging about 8000 square feet of beds this year (more than double last year’s 2800 square feet). If you include pathways, etc, we’re pushing up into the quarter acre range, still just a really big garden. Staffing changes are on their way as well, as Danny Percich is moving to Washington (state that is). More details are on their way but Kji McIntire will be joining up with us, another former SIO man and freshly back from a few years in the islands (the San Juans that is).
