Slow Hand Farm

Welcome to Slow Hand Farm - June 2009

I always find it hard to believe that mid June is still spring time and that once summer hits at the end of June the days will already be getting shorter.  We’ve just finished most of the big summer plantings and starting in on some of the big fall plantings at the very small CSA.  There are still a few more shares available but we’re concentrating on the growing part right now and not so much marketing.

Projects abound with Meriwether’s Skyline Farm making exciting steps forward.  We have a non-irrigated crops section up there that I’m really excited to see what happens with.  I’m also working on some simple conveyor designs for Abby at Abby’s Greens.  Today I tested the first prototype and learned a lot.  Perhaps I’ll be writing a bit about it when it’s all finished.

Michael Ableman, who I’ve worked with in the past just announced the program schedule at his Centre for Arts Ecology & Agriculture on Salt Spring Island in BC.  If you’re looking for a great place to spend a little time this summer I highly recommend the farm and the class schedule looks amazing.

As always, take a look around the site.  Let me know what you think and wish me luck.

Thanks for stopping by,
